"How blogs are building a friendlier world" is a presentation from Mena Trott at the TED conference in Monterey, CA in 2006. She is considered to be the founding mother of the blog revolution. 

From her bio page on Ted.com: "Mena Trott and her husband Ben founded Six Apart in a spare bedroom after the blogging software they developed grew beyond a hobby. With products Movable Type, TypePad, LiveJournal and Vox, the company has helped lead the 'social media' revolution."

The talk below focuses on the personal aspect of blogging and how blogging - and social media in general - enables people to express themselves in a way which was unprecedented, leading to more personal connections among otherwise distant people and to a friendlier world eventually.
